It's Maddie and India, preparing for our month-long adventure in Zaragoza, Spain. For almost a year now we have been planning to attend Zaragoza's own Sacred Heart, Sagrado Corazon. We will be spending the first hours of 2010 on a plane traveling 3664 miles away from home. We are prepared to face the inevitable language barrier as Gringas (Americans) in Spain. With the help of six years of Spanish classes and the occasional glance at our Spanish-English dictionaries, we hope to learn and enjoy the people, culture and food of Zaragoza.

Colegio Sagrado Corazon de Jesus: The school we will be attending.

Juntos en Madrid!

It's Maddie and India's first joint post!

For those of you who do not feel the need to google translate, here is our day in our native language....

Salutations from Madrid! We have a lot to share with you. Today we walked ALL over the city in search for a technology store. We need cell phones to talk on while we are in Spain. We visited over 15 stores and every time, the clerk could not help us! After two hours, we decided we needed to eat, and we abandoned our search.

In the city, we took lots of photos in many places. There are lots of lights for the New Year and LOTS of people in the narrow streets. We spoke a lot of Spanish with the workers in stores and restaurants and we also learned that it is not a good idea to eat icecream in a restaurant where they allow smoking. It smelled so bad!

The pictures we posted are from our first day in Madrid! Churros with chocolate and bright lights for the New Year.

Hasta la Vista!
